Policies and agreements
HAL training hub is operated by the Center for Direct Scientific Communication (CCSD) for users of the HAL Platform. It provides access to online Resources and Training sessions. By registering on this site, you accept, without restriction or reservation, the site policy as described below.
Definitions
- Center for Direct Scientific Communication (CCSD): a support and research unit (UAR3668) which created, develops and operates the HAL Platform. The CCSD is part of the French National Plan for Open Science.
- HAL Training Hub: designed for users of the HAL Platform to access Resources and participate in Training Sessions.
- A Training Session: An online self-training module or a space to register for distance learning sessions (via videoconference) and classroom training sessions, accessible after login to the website.
- The HAL Platform: A multidisciplinary open archive that provides open access to research results, whether published or not. See About HAL to learn more.
- A Resource: A multimedia content (tutorial, video, practical guide) or an interactive activity (quiz, survey, videoconference, forum) available on the Training Hub, with or without prior login to the website. A Resource may be included in a Training Session.
- Pedagogical and Administrative Support for Participants: Support of a pedagogical nature (correction, feedback, and advice in response to activities such as quizzes, case studies, forums) and administrative nature (validation of participation in Training Sessions, issuance of badges and certificates).
Terms of Use
Unless otherwise stated, all Resources and Training Sessions on the HAL Training Hub are created by the CCSD. They are made available under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.
Under the terms of this license, you are permitted to share and adapt the Resources and Training Sessions by any means and in any format, including for commercial use, provided that you:
- Credit the author of the Resource or Training Session, include a link to the license, and indicate if any changes were made to the Resource or Training Session;
- Do not apply legal restrictions or technical measures that would legally prevent others from using the Resource or Training Session under the terms described by the license.
User Responsibility
All equipment and software necessary to access and use the HAL Training Hub are your responsibility. You are therefore responsible for ensuring your equipment functions properly and for maintaining your internet access. The use of the Resources and Training Sessions provided on HAL Training Hub is solely your responsibility. Any actions or decisions you take based on this information are your own responsibility and do not engage anyone else
Privacy and Personal Data
The data controller is the CCSD:

Data collection is based on the legitimate interest of the data controller (Article 6 of the GDPR).
Data Collected and Purpose
When you create an account in the HAL Training Hub, the following information is automatically retrieved from your user account : first name, last name, and email address. While using the website, information about the Training Sessions you are enrolled in and the Resources you interact with is also stored. This data is used to provide pedagogical and administrative support to participants.
None of the data stored is communicated to the HAL Platform.
Data Retention Period
Your personal data is stored for the entire duration of your enrollment in a Training Session. Data related to each Training Session is deleted 12 months after the session ends, and your profile data will be anonymized 12 months after your last login.
Data Recipients
The data collected is managed by the CCSD.
The processing of this data does not involve automated decision-making (Article 22 of the GDPR). Personal data, such as connection logs, may be reused for scientific research purposes in compliance with data protection regulations, unless you object by contacting the data controller.
Personal rights
In accordance with the applicable legal and regulatory provisions, in particular Law No. 78-17 of 6 January, as amended, relating to information technology, files and freedoms and European Regulation No. 2016/679/EU of 27 April 2016 (applicable since 25 May 2018), you have the following rights:
- Exercise your right of access, to know the personal data concerning you;
- Request the update of your data, if it is inaccurate;
- Request the portability or deletion of your data;
- Request the deletion of your account;
- Request the restriction of the processing of your data;
- Object, on legitimate grounds, to the processing of your data;
- Withdraw your consent to the processing of your data.
